Description
Creative Activities Through a Trauma-Informed Lens: Small Adjustments, Meaningful Differences
A half-day live session with Dr Karen Treisman for qualified therapists and allied professionals working with children and adolescents.
Many of us already use familiar creative and therapeutic activities, such as the Calm Place exercise. In this session, Karen explores the small adaptations and considerations that can make these activities more trauma-informed, inclusive and responsive.
Using two or three activities as examples, Karen will look at the language we use, offering choice (for example, rather than asking everyone to close their eyes), the materials we choose, sensory experiences, and how the same activity can land very differently for different people. The focus is on small but meaningful ways to adapt what you already do, rather than reinventing everything.
